Power Of Smile

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God.

He knew it was a long trip to where God lived,

so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies & a six-pack of root beer, and he started his journey.

When he had gone a few blocks from home,

he met an old man. He was sitting in the park near the water just staring at some birds .

The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase.

He was about to take a drink from his root beer,

when he noticed that the old man looked hungry,

so he offered him a Twinkie.

The old man gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

His smile was so incredible that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Once again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling,

but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was,

and he got up to leave, but before

he had gone more than a few steps;

he turned around, and ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug.

The old man gave him his biggest smile ever,

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked her son: "What did you do today that made you so happy?"

The child replied: "I had lunch with God."

But before his mother could respond, he added:

"You know what?

He's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!

Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and asked: "Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy? "He replied: "I ate Twinkies in the park with God. "But before his son responded, he added:

"You know, He's much younger than I expected.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,

a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. All of which have the potential to make someone's day a very special one, or even turn someone's life around.

WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN

This is one of the nicest e-mails I have seen and is so true: 
I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. 
My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, 'This Is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to GOD said in prayer are Received..' 
I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.. 
Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. 
The angel then said to me, 'This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them.'
I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth 
Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the Door of a very small station To my great surprise, only one angel was Seated there, idly doing nothing. 'This is the Acknowledgment Section,' My angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed 'How Is it that there is no work going on here?' I asked. 
'So sad,' the angel sighed. 'After people receive the blessings that they asked For, very few send back acknowledgments .' 
'How does one acknowledge GOD's blessings?' I asked. 
'Simple,' the angel answered. Just say, 'Thank you, LORD.' 
'What blessings should they acknowledge? ' I asked. 
'If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy .' 
'And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity. ' 
Also ...... 
' If you woke up this morning with more health than illness ... You are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day .' 
'If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation .. You are ahead of 700 million people in the world.' 
'If your parents are still alive and still married ...you are very rare .' 
'If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique to all those in doubt and despair.' 
Ok, what now? How can I start? 
If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

The Master

When one Guru was dying, one of his deciple asked him "Guruji, who was your master?"

He said, "I had thousands of masters. If I just relate their names it will take months, years and it is too late. But three masters I will certainly tell you about. "

"One was a thief. Once I got lost in the desert, and when I reached a village it was very late, everything was closed. But at last I found one man who was trying to make a hole in the wall of a house. I asked him where I could stay and he said 'At this time of night it will be difficult, but you can stay with me - if you can stay with a thief'.

And the man was so beautiful. I stayed for one month! And each night he would say to me, 'Now I am going to my work. You rest, you pray.'

When he came back I would ask 'Could you get anything?'

He would say, 'Not tonight. But tomorrow I will try again, God willing.' He was never in a state of hopelessness, he was always happy. When I was meditating and meditating for years on end and nothing was happening, many times the moment came when I was so desperate, so hopeless,that I thought to stop all this nonsense. And suddenly I would remember the thief who would say every night, 'God willing, tomorrow it is going to happen."

"And my second master was a dog. I was going to the river, thirsty and a dog came. He was also thirsty. He looked into the river, he saw another dog there -- his own image -- and became afraid. He would bard and run away, but his thirst was so much that he would come back. Finally, despite his fear, he just jumped into the water, and the image disappeared. And I knew that a message had come to me from God: one has to jump in spite of all fears." 

"And the third master was a small child. I entered a town and a child was carrying a lit candle. He was going to thetemple to put the candle there.'

Just joking, I asked the boy, 'Have you lit the candle yourself?'

He said, 'Yes sir.'

And I asked, 'There was a moment when the candle was unlit, then there was a moment when the candle was lit. Can you show me the source from which the light came?'

And the boy laughed, blew out the candle, and said, 'Now you have seen the light going. Where has it gone? You will tell me!'

My ego was shattered, my whole knowledge was shattered. And that moment I felt my own stupidity. Since then I dropped all my knowledgeability."

"It is true that I had no master. That does not mean that I was not a disciple -- I accepted the whole existence as my master. My Disciplehood was a greater involvement than yours is. I trusted the clouds, the trees. I trusted existence as such. I had no master because I had millions of masters I learned from every possible source. To be a disciple is a must on the path. What does it mean to be a disciple? It means to be able to learn. to be available to learn to be vulnerable to existence. With a master you start learning to learn."

The master is a swimming pool where you can learn how to swim. 
Once you have learned, all the oceans are yours.

Recently in a Satsang, Sri Sri Ravishankar cracked a joke.

People laughed hysterically over the joke.

Then he repeated the joke and fewer people laughed.

Then he repeated the joke again and again there was lesser laughter.

This went on for some more time and each time there was lesser laughter.

Then Sri Sri Ravishankar said: 

  

If you don't laugh over a joke if it is repeated more than once then why cry over the same grief again and again? 

  

One should carefully think on these lines.

Positive Thaughts

Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, 

But it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout. 

Do you know why a Car's WINDSHIELD is so large The Rear-view Mirror is so small?

Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE.

Look Ahead and Move on.

A blind person asked Swami Vivekanand:

"Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?"

He replied:

"Yes, losing your vision!" 

When you pray for others,

God listens to you and blesses them,

And sometimes,

When you are safe and happy,

Remember that someone has prayed for you. 

WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, It takes away today's PEACE.

Be human, follow dharma.

आहार निद्रा भय मैथुनं च समानम् एतत् पशुभिः नराणाम्

धर्मः हि तेषाम् अधिकः विशेषः धर्मेण हिनाः पशुभिः समानाः - चाणक्य नीति
dharmaH hi teShaam adhikaH visheShaH dharmeNa hinaaH pashubhiH samaanaaH
Food, sleep, fear and procreation - these are equal in animals and humans.
Virtue (dharma) alone is distinctive in them.
Those who avoid dharma are equal to animals.
Eating when hungry, sleeping, fear, procreation - these traits are common to both animals and humans. So, what is the difference between animals and humans?
Just being educated do not qualify one person as an educated, What sets humans apart is their ability to follow a path of virtue (dharma). Their intellect, paves way for them to think what is good and what is bad.A true human sticks to the one that qualifies as dharma. That ability of decision making in coherence of dharma, are what makes him human. Else, he would be showing the same traits as the rest of the beings, which are called animals. Hence, if one doesn't follow the path of virtue, he is as good as an animal!

The one faculty that sets us apart from other beings is dharma. Do not forgo that for any reason.
Be human, follow dharma.

Guidelines from GOD
Effective Immediately, please be aware that there are changes YOU need to make in YOUR life.
These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this life.
After all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. Please, follow these 10 guidelines

QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you?
Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way?

PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to Me. And although My to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care of anything you put into My hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me.
Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials.
Problems with the kids? Put them on My list.
Problem with finances? Put it on My list.
Problems with your emotional roller coaster?
For My sake, put it on My list.
I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say,
"Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you are feeling stronger now?

It's simple.
You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking care of them.
I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I give you these problems back,
you will be right back where you started?
Leave them with Me and forget about them.
Just let Me do my job.

TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things.
Forget what was making you crazy..
Forget the worry and the fretting because you know
I'm in control.. But there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't forget to talk to Me -OFTEN!
I love YOU!
I want to hear your voice. I want you to include Me in on the things going on in your life.
I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with Me.
I want to be your dearest friend.

HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where you are.
Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing.
Trust Me; you wouldn't want the view from My eyes.
I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs.
You only have to trust Me.
Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were only two years old.
When did you forget?
That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you.. Share your joy with those who need encouragement.
Share your laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none.

BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences.
You grow from a child to an adult, have children,
change jobs many times, learn many trades,
travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much.
How can you be so impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something on My to-do-list?
Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect.
Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.

BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you.
They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all.
Please try to get along, for My sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical.
Please, know I love each of your differences.

LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return. I am a God of Love.
Love Me.
Love your neighbors. But also love yourself.
It makes My heart ache when I see you
so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me.

Don't ever forget...... IT IS GOD'S GIFT BE THANKFUL

Why We Tell Stories

There was once a disciple of a great teacher. Day after day the disciple would sit at the feet of his teacher listening to his instruction. Many people would come to visit and inevitably the teacher would engage them by telling a story.

One day the disciple asked; "Guruji, why do you engage people by means of stories? Why don't you just give them your teaching straight out?"

The guru answered: "Bring me some water."

Now the disciple knew his teacher to be a very formal and disciplined man. He had never asked for water at this time of the day. Nevertheless, he went immediately to fetch it. Taking a clean brass water pot from the ashram kitchen, the disciple went to the well, filled the pot with water and returned. He offered it to his teacher.

"Why have you brought me a pot when I asked only for water?"

The moral of this story…

We share with others the lessons we have learned. We provide you with a banquet of various tastes and styles. It is up to you to choose that dish which you find most palatable.
